Hi All,
Got my K750I in September on an orange contract. I keep it perfect, never been dropped and not a scratch on it!.
Unfortunatly after the last software update I did through SEUS the camera stopped working.
So I phoned Sony and the told me to send it to ACR Logistics who are one of there repair centers to have it fixed. Fine I thought.
Then ACR send me a letter saying my warranty is void due to "UNAUTHORISED ENGINERRING"
I was shocked!! So got them to send my evidence. They sent me pictures which shows that one of the buttons has been resoldered on. I agree it does look the case!
Thing is I have never had any repair and it was factory sealed when I got it. So Sony must have sent it out like that!!!
Im pissed as I have asked sony to investigate further but I think they will come back with "tough" when they see the pics.
Any suggestions?

Id get in touch with Orange. If when you got the phone on contract it came sealed, then something is fishy.
I'd hesitate my guess that where you did buy the phone from, possibly maybe have sold you a reconditioned unit - one that has been repaired as part of a refund or replacement that another customer may have had. Either that, or you bought the phone from a none reputable dealer on contract and they sold you a dodgy handset.
Just because a phone looks pristine and sealed as if its just come direct from the factory, does not mean it has. In fact, ive often wondered about items ive purchased whether they were really new or reconditioned products, because they've come with a sticker missing or fingerprints on what should otherwise be a perfect item.

Look at the battery too, its also corroded. Its definite user damage. The circuit board must have got wet and it shorted and melted part of the board. Thats why, dunno why they said it was tampered with though???

Im wondering if they have a batch in the factory that have manfacture issues and they fix them, surely they wouldnt just throw them in the bin, too expensive.

Like i said in my previous post, its very important we know where you bought the phone.
If you bought it from a single chain store rather than a high street major retail chain of stores like Carphone Warehouse, you're more likely to be sold a refurbished or second hand phone packaged "as new".
Im not an expert on determining what type of damage it is, it could be water damage, but the soldering does look a poor quality compared to the soldering on the other button contacts. I stand by my first guess, you've probably been sold a reconditioned handset hoping you wont notice. Even the manufacturers do that, and not just back street phone shops but it is less likely.

As dgilmartin said, that PCB is showing signs of moisture. The board itself aslo looks very old and tattered for what I assume is a 6mth old phone. My advise to you is to contact Orange customer relations and ask them what they think they are doing selling you a re-furbed phone!

From the looks of it however, it doesnt look like a new phone, and again i reckon its a refurbished handset.
Lets face it, Orange will lie through their teeth to customers anyway.

Sony Erricson are saying they only ship new phones to network providers.
Orange are saying they only ship new phones to customers.
So how have I ended up with 2nd hand phone??
They are both blaming each other and im stuck
Any advice?
