Recently switched to Vodafone and within weeks WITHOUT ANY WARNING they have simply de-activated my email account.

Annoyed the hell out of me because when I sitched to them from O2 I assumed they would do that. So I have spent the last 4 years telling everyone to use my orange email rather than my old O2 address.

Now my Orange email is knacked and ironically the O2 one is still going strong.

On the funny side though......

I owe them £40 or so to settle the account. I have three numbers I can use to contact them to make a payment. Each one uses an automated call answering service which kicks me out after asking for my mobile number. It refuses to recognise me as the number has now been switch to V/fone.

Orange have recently got the face on big time

They are lossing more customers currenlty than either keeping or signing up.

They are in for another shock too, Dealers dont like the new animal tarriff and so dont the public and the big heads in orange say they arnt bothered.

They want a certain type of Orange customer. (What that none of them)

Its about time Orange started to listen.

It happend last year when the customer care went from good to crap. Ok its started to get better but i think there in for a ver bumpy ride.

Oh well sit back and have a laugh.

Sorry to hear about the account pal. Prob Orange got upset as you went to Vodafone?

I was almost told that they didn't want my custom by their CS.

When my 3rd consecutive 12 month contract expired in Feb they couldn't even match my then current Orange tariff, nevermind anybody elses.

Yep same happened to 2 of my friends.

She wanted a new D600 And the net at the time was offering it free with £50 of credit and 100 mins 500 sms for £25.

Orange Retentions was , How do you want me to match that, You dont spend enough with us and thats the problem i have. So Cancelled Contract and just orderded it on line with a new number, No problem.

1 of me friends in the last 2 weeks wanted a new Nokia 6111. She asked if they could match the new flex T Tarrif, She was told, Sorry you are already got the best deal we can give you, take it or leave.
So she left. They woudnt even match there own online tarriffs.

Gone mad, They have lost the plot

Things have got worse.

Despite the fact that I left them AFTER the end of my 12 month contract they have charged me £13.34 for providing my PAC code.

Given that I was never told at the time I'm not too happy. I was however told that the code was only valid for 30 days, so that makes leaving Orange with minimal expense and inconvenience a little difficult.

And there attitude to all of this..........?

"we wont be sending you any more bills, so if you don't pay the matter will be passed to a debt collecting agency"

All this for a total bill a little over £30.

Nice !

Did I read right...Orange actually charged you for the PAC number?!?

I've ported about 8 different numbers to different networks with virtually all the UK networks, including Orange, and have never been charged.

The 30-day period is standard across all networks though.
Does anyone know when Orange actually started to charge people for getting their PAC numbers?
If this is also new policy of theirs, it must have been fairly recently introduced...

I have a friend on orange who got an upgrade. The phone was supposed to be free but when his next bill came trough it turned out that they had charged him £200 for it. It took over 6 months and about 30 unhelpful phone calls before Orange backed down and refunded his money.
It seem to me that Orange are going out of their way to upset their customers.

Yes... they said it was in the T & C of my contract that I had to give 30 days notice before closing my account.

But my 12 month contract had expired over a month earlier. So just what contract were they referring too ?

With all the UK networks you run on a month to month contract after the initial term. Although your outwith your original 12 month deal, your still under a monthly contract so to speak. The charge then would have been for the part of the month you were using while the number transfered, it's standard practise by all the networks, port your number out and chances are you'll pay the full months line rental. Occasionally you'll get a good CS rep who will waive the extra charges, but after 3 years in mobile retail, that rarely happened.

When you sign up for a new post pay account you sign a contract agreeing to their terms and conditions. Part of the terms and conditions is that you are commited to stay with them for a minimum of 12 months (or 18 months). When that 12 month period has expired ou are still in a contract with them.
Another part of the contract will dictate that to leave your contract you will need to give 30 days notice.
Just because you have served your 12 month sentence doesnt mean that you can leave without notice.
