Well it depends on what YOU think is best. Some people can't tell the difference between 128kb and 192kb, some people think that the difference is tremendous, so it's up to you. It also depends on the format. AAC/WMA(not allowed on W550) formats are at about the same quality as mp3s when they are half the bitrate of mp3s. Anyway its up to your personal preference. Why don't you rip your music off at 96, 128 and 192kb and load them on to your W550 and see which one you would prefer?

Songs with higher bitrates will obviously sound better and have bigger file sizes, most people who use an ipod use 192kbps, as they have plenty of space, using 128kbps is okay, if you are listenning to heavy bass music then i suggest higher than this, perhaps 160kbps, or 192.
