I had this mail from services@paypal.com with reply address 0683-t2js-xljP@noreplay.paypal.com.

Important Resolution Notice to ketil@esato.com

PayPal is constantly working to ensure security by regularly screening the accounts in our system.
We recently reviewed your account, and we need more information about your business to allow us to provide uninterrupted service.

We would like to return your account to regular standing as soon as possible

To continue using PayPal's service without interruption, you will need to answer a few questions about your account and you may be asked to complete a short series of steps on the PayPal website. The purpose of this is to verify your identity and business information, as applicable.

(Your case ID for this reason is **-***-***-***-***.)

How can I return my account to regular standing?

Please visit the Resolution Center and complete the "Steps to Provide More Information."

Completing all the checklist items will automatically restore your account access.

We appreciate your business and apologise for any inconvenience.

Is this one of those, ever so famous, hoaxes?
(Clicking on the link provided in the mail takes me to the log in at PayPal)

Then it's likely it was an email from somewhere else wanting you to sign in via the email and therefore send you email address and password to whomever created the email. Don't worry about it mate Just never sign in directly from an email, go to the main site first.

That's how scammers got into my cousins ebay account, by sending a convincing email which he then "signed in" from.

That's what I was afraid of.
I took a gamble, logged on through www.paypal.com, went to Resolution Center and entered the case ID provided in the email:
The case ID entered was not in the PayPal case ID format. Please enter your case ID in the following format: **-***-***-***

Cheers guys.

It's definately a scam! I get loads of those kinds of emails, pretty much every day. I would never log in by clicking a link, I'd got to the Paypal site then log in. I foolishly got caught out clicking one of these links and 'logging in' to my Ebay account from one of these emails when the scam was just starting, and before i knew it my sales got cancelled and someone had listed a motorbike on my account! And my email got hijacked too. I think i'm on one of their 'idiot' lists now, so keep getting phishing emails frequently.

Some are getting quite sophisticated, and do say something very similar to the https:// etc. official Paypal login site.

Disregard this notice, it's one of those 'phishing' emails.

A lot of effort because theoretically they have a LOT to gain! But it doesn't look convincing to me.... but then again all my paypal email goes to junk anyway!

They only need a few people out of thousands to reply through it to make it worth their while; they will ultimately have access to their funds!
