Can anyone recommend anywhere to go in Brussels? I'll be there for 3 days and want to impress my girl with some 'research'

@amnesia
La Grande Place is good for sitting with a quiet drink and watching the world go by. I would also suggest you take a stroll down the little streets beside it, which are crowded with restaurants where you can get a rather tasty meal.
The city bus tour is well worth doing and you can pop off at any locations you find particularly interesting.
The European Parliament building is not exactly inspiring from the outside from what I can remember, but if you are so inclined you might decide a visit is in order.
Brussels is a rather expensive city so be prepared to pay perhaps a little more than you would in the UK.
You might also consider a visit to the site of the battle of Waterloo although this would likely take up a whole day.

- Grand place and the Manneken Pis
- St Michel and Gudule
- Atomium
- Serre royal de Laeken (closed in this period)
- Sablon
- Palais de Justice
- Royal square and Palace
- Cinquantenaire
- European district (if you like buildings ...)
I recommend to buy a book for such things and Bruges is also an excellent city. Do not eat at the "rue des bouchers" ! It isn't belgian food, nor food at all, it's the typical tourist street that every city has ...

thanks guys for the info.
The hotel I'm going to be at is actually next to the Grande Place.
Since I'll be having 3 days (more like 2) I wanted to do the essentials and know the best places to eat and shop.
@Jim, could you let me know of any specific restaurants near Grande Place?

Here is a small list:
1) In't Spinnekopke - Place Jardin Aux Fleurs 1- 1000 Bruxelles
That's all I can see in traditional Belgian food around Grand Place. I don't know many around Grand Place as I go one or two times per year so I can't really help here ...
For chocolate you have :
1) Neuhaus
2) Guylan
3) Godiva
4) Léonidas
5) Moeder Babbelute
6) Arosa
7) L’art de Praslin

Wittamer
9) Passion Chocolat
10) Mary
11) ...
The 4 first are the most popular as they have factorys and thus shops everywhere
