> Made my own HPM-XX 3.5mm jack!

Initially I was looking around for a good set of headphones to use with my K750. The supplied ones were just not confortable, and the local SE dealers failed to fetch me an original HPM-70, even though I was ready to pay in advance.
Ideas come from an idle mind - remember Newton? Well, I just came across a damaged set of original K750 headphones, and decided to put it to good use. And here's what I did......
Er.....This is the NOT what I have created, this is the original SE stuff to show you what I was trying to achieve.
For creating the cable, I used one of these.....
And after a lot of experimentations and soldering/De-soldering, I finally achieved this...........
But the above contraption still had some exposed wires around, and had the risk of damaging the wiring/contacts. So I used some epoxy adhesive to Finally achieve THIS.........My own HPM-XX!!
I know it looks too crude, but hey, it absolutely rocks with my woofer system! I am still on the lookout for a pair of *good* earphones for testing - my existing Philips earphones aren't much good anyway, and the list time I used them was 2 yrs back!.
All the more, the entire setup cost be barely a few cents. (To be very precise, it cost me around barely 5 Rupees here in India, equivalent to 10 cents!!!

Good work, but perhaps a little less epoxy adhesive, and a proper shape would have done a lot to improve it's looks

Hmmmm.....had been prowling around electronics shops, and came across this one today - a stereo socket with a well-built housing.
If you see the pics of the original contraption, it was all crude and ugly - and I was rarely using it.
So now immediately I set to work, and I've modified my cable to fit the new socket. Also, I cut my wire short, making a good-looking as well as a very wearable device - this:
Pretty much resemples the original thing, doesn't it? BTW all I need is an orange Walkman logo/sticker!!!
[EDIT] : Hey!! just noticed....this is my 50th Post - hit a halfcentury here on Esato!!!

@Kamikaze, I got mine free of cost from a distributor and you can get one too if you have deep contacts with the distributors. The service centre guys are tough nuts to crack, though u may like to try your luck.

may i ask, where's the mic in that jack? were you able to make calls using that jack? like in the real walkman jack, it has the mic in the jack, so you can still make calls and the other party will be able to hear you... i'm interested in making one too, for my current phone, and i don't want to change my headset at the expense of losing the mic... (hope i made my question clear)
