It's been a while since my last post and after a few searches I'm surprised that no one here has commented on the looks-amazing HP iPAQ hw6915.
Compare to the P990i:
- quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
- wlan 802.11b
- bluetooth 1.2
- 1.3 mpixel camera
- 3 inch screen
- backlit qwerty keyboard
AND...
- GPS built in (and it comes with TomTom pre-installed!!!)
- 192Mb memory
- mini sd cards (cheaper and smaller than MS Pro Duo)
- Activesync
- fully push-email compliant (did you fall for this lie on the P910i like me?)
What's not to like? Well, it's Windows Mobile 5 which makes one feel a traitor to good old Symbian/UIQ. But how amazing it will be to have a device that actually does synchronise properly with your calendar, contacts, notes etc? After years of suffering the sync problems of the P-series.
And it's smaller than the P990 as well. Displacement 151cc compared to 162cc.
Can't help thinking this will be my next mobile device. What do you reckon?
Masseur? Have you got one yet? I know you're a Windows Mobile fan and this could be better than the JAMin and kJAM.

Perhaps when the P990 comes out, it will have some functions that would make you really want to buy it

but for now, the HP seems very good to me, just for the 1.3 MP camera, that's all. cheers

Hmm will they cost the same...?
But you ask what there is not to like and I must say first of all what I don't like with the HP iPAQ hw6915 is the W I D E shape...
It's primary a PDA and then a phone where the P990i is first of all a phone with PDA functions so basically there can be no comparisons...
I would ( and will) buy the P990 at any time over the HP...

I had the HP 6340, and to be honest, it was a load of pants, Battery life was terrible, wifi was ok but very slow, bluetooth was very patchy, and the ability to customize your ringtones and other features was very limited. I for one will not be going back to one, and still use a ipaq for day to day use, but the P910i is still in my opinion way better as a day to day device. I have not tried the 6915, b ut if it is anything like the 6340, then my advice is to keep well clear. Mine by the way died after about 5 weeks, and has been returned, my 2210 is about 16 months old, and so far has been fine, but until I hear good reports about any windows mobile, I for one will not entertain one. I know there is a large following of these devices in one form or another, the SPV range is an example, but they all seem to sufer from major faults in one way or another, and if you look at the various web sites dedicataed to these devices, the users always seem to have major issues with them. We all know how tempramental PC's are and to rely on one as your day to day device, is only gong to end in tears. This is only my opinion, and it is based on real use not on others say so.

Hmmm. I think the P-series is just as temperamental as any PC... the synchronisation is just dreadful, the bluetooth has never been stable, you frequently need to reboot it (or sometimes it just reboots itself!), and so on.
I guess I just like the idea of having GPS built into my phone instead of a separate receiver. And cheaper memory cards.
I like the point about the P990 being a phone with PDA functions and the 6915 being a PDA with phone functions... I'd go further and say that despite SE marketing (and the best efforts of people like me at our companies) the P-series has always been a toy with limited business value. The 6915 (which I've never used!) looks like a serious business tool with a lot of toy value!
Guess it depends which you're looking for!

I used the P910i for over 6 months and never had any problems with syncing, bluetooth or any crashing problems. I now use an O2 XDA Exec (Imate Jasjar) for 2 weeks and can safely say that I also have had no probelms with any part of it.
The P910i was smaller which was more convenient and the customisation of the ringtones etc was better but the XDA is more powerful.
I think it all depends on what you want: A phone with a few PDA functions (SE) or a PDA that can make the odd call on(XDA/HP).

Like I said, for me it is more important to make and recieve calls, than the PDA side of things, they are the added bonus, and with the P910i I have way more functions, than with a standard phone, and as for the bluetooth, I had no end of reseting problems with the ipaq and headsets, and as for bluetooth links to my vaio laptop, forget it. The P910i has never once had an issue with bluetooth, either with a headset or the vaio. I am not knocking windows devices in any way, it is just down to personal use and experience, and for me windows devices are not on my list of items to buy. The P910i may not be as fast or able to do some of the things that windows devices can, but it fills all my needs perfectly, and I for one will be going for either the P990 or the M600 once they are released.

http://pocketpcsoft.net/albums/ipaq6900 seems to have a set of photos showing the HP 6915 against the P910i
The 6915 overall size is smaller but it does look quite a bit wider than the P910i (as noted above). It's not going to fit in the pocket of your jeans, but might be better in the breast pocket of your suit.
One neat thing mentioned by a reviewer is that when you take a call in your car, using a bluetooth headset, you can still get (muted) tomtom instructions through the headset!! Nice.

I have had in the past Ipaq's and a P900 the Ipaq's are too large to use as a phone the P900 was the buggiest thing i have ever owned but that was due to Orange and their customisation. I have only recently bought a P910i and since it has been de branded is awesome absolutely no problems with PC syncing or any of the other problems reported but then i don't load tons of extra software i don't need. Have always removed the flip on P series and use on screen keyboard. Not interested in P990 as don't like the keyboard on the phone and have no need for a camera or wi-fi. My next SE phone will definitely be a M600 but not for a while until the price drops and Tom Tom is available for it.

I've been hearing/seeing " + " feedbacks on HP products lately . . . price though is a bit 'high' . . .
