Been trying to use SEUS to get the latest firmware for my K750i and it all seems to work fine up to the point where I have to release the 'c' key on the phone. It tells me to do that but the page telling me to 'release 'c'' just sits there for about a minute or two and then SEUS just jumps back to the page asking me which connector type I have.

I know I have the right USB flash drivers because DaVinci recognizes the phone and can read the CID if I do the "hold 'c' and restart phone" thing. I also checked my EPIUSB.SYS file against the latest from SE and it's the same.

I know others have had lots of problems with SEUS but I haven't seen this one mentioned allthough I saw exactly the same problem with a friend's K750i on a different computer.

I would really like to use SEUS and not DaVinci to do upgrades. It's not about paying €10 for a DVT credit, it's just that with SEUS you don't lose all your data when you flash like you do with DVT.

Using DaVinci, click "Read CID/Test cable".

I'm suspecting that the phone was left BROWN in a previous update with an unlocking tool.

Nope, the phone is definitely RED. Here's what I get from DVT:

Phone attached!
Detected SonyEricsson: K750/D750/W800.
Status Ok, OTP Close, CID36, PAF1
IMEI: xxxxxx-xx-xxxxxx
Phone CID 36, Color RED
You must use CID36 Flash Files For this phone!
Press button - "Get Files From Web" and download free firmware
Execution Time - 00:00:31
Done!

I blocked out the IMEI deliberately btw.

I had to use DVT before because I bought the phone in the UK and wanted to have Portuguese T9 so when I upgraded to R1N035 I used the EU_1 firmware and CDA 102337/9 (which is generic EU_1). The phone didn't need to be unlocked since I bought it SIM free in the UK (not cheap!).

Even so, if the phone couldn't be upgraded by SEUS I'd expect to get an error message? The other phone where this is happening hasn't been messed with at all and SEUS has worked with it in the past.

Are you sure you installed the flash drivers? (Not the data transfer drivers..)

Open My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware devices
Open the USB tree
Then hold 'c' and plug phone.
You should hear a "blip" from windows and the hardware list should be refreshed.
At this moment a *Flash* should appear on the list.
If thats so, the drivers are installed.

Better to unistall them (need to be quick right clicking that device).
Then press unistall.

Repeat the above 'c'+plug procedure and manually install the drivers by indicating the following path to them:
xx:\\Program Files\\Sony Ericsson\\Update Service\\setup\\drivers\\USB

Retry the update procedure.

If this doesn't work... can't help you anymore.

I'm pretty sure the drivers are installed OK because DVT "Test cable/Read CID" wouldn't work if they weren't but I'll try re-installing as you suggest.

Obrigado pela ajuda!
Abraço,
Michael.

@all
Sorry for non-English post.

Atenção que eu acho que os drivers que o DaVinci usa não serão os mesmo que o SEUS... mas também não tenho a certeza.

@all: sorry for non-english post

Tenho quase a certeza que os drivers que a DaVinci usa são os mesmos da SEUS. Os que eu installei são os que vem do site da SE. Mas, vou tentar reinstallar na mesma.

Abraço,
Michael.

OK, I finally got this working. What I needed to do was uninstall the old "USB Flash" drivers (EPIUSB.SYS) which SEUS used to use and which DVT also uses and then completely uninstall SEUS and delete all SEUS directories.

I then downloaded the latest SEUS II (2.6.4.9) and ran through it. First time I had to install the USB Flash drivers, the new one which is called GGSEMC.SYS, then close SEUS II and restart it. This time around it got past the "release 'c'" stage and upgraded my phone properly to R1BC002.

I must say SEUS is a bit useless if it can't update itself properly. I had an old install of SEUS II and it claimed to have updated itself to 2.6.4.9 but in fact it still had the old driver files (EPIUSB.SYS) and simply didn't work. A full uninstall and re-install was required.

Michael.
