The camera is of VGA quality. It can only be used during video calls, and not to take photos with.

I don't think SE wants users to take pictures of themselves with the frontal camera because it goes against the 'dual front' policy that they adhere to. I think that it's a bit overkill though.

the front camera of unbranded w900 phones here in S.E. Asia don't allow for users to take vga self portraits.
If given a choice between n70 and w900, go for W900.

My W900i is unbranded (got it from a trip to Asia) and it allow me to do self potrait.
Off course for being a VGA camera quality is won't be up to part with the 2 mega pixel on the back.
I believe this VGA camera is more for doing video confrencing (less taxing to the data bandwidth).
I would say get the W900i. It's an awesome phone; menu are easy to navigate and intuitive, large built in memory is a plus (almost 1 GB when you count the included 512MB); spring release swivel is cool and it's the only Sony phone for now that is made in Japan.
The only advantage that I can see from the Nokia is the fact that the phone is Pictbridge complient. But I was told by a N70 owner that the pictbridge experience is not perfect yet.

@ coxy and docmac,
All W900s can be used for self portraits. Mines a Sim Free handset from Singapore I think.. Well anyway, noones explained how you do it. Heres how.
Go into Cam mode, Click Settings, Scroll Right and click Shoot Mode, then scroll down to Self-Portrait.
BTW definitely go for the W900i, a bit big, but a classic phone...
