> my W800 died, nothing helps.no warranty in Canada
Bookmark topic
One day i wanted to make a call, but found my phone off....it never turned on again. A few repair stores tried to reinstall the software.....change a baterry....basically everything exept opening the phone in order not to break the factory seal. I live i Canada, and the phone was a present sent to me from Russia!!!(apr 20 hour on a plane from where i live)
I have tried to contact SE here, but all i got was a phrase...REGIONAL WARRANTY.....they said that they dont even have parts for it in Canada, and US would not take it either becouse it was purchased in europe......
Any suggestions on what i could do? What could have went wrong with the phone(there is no signs of life at all, and i have used it for about 5 months with no problems)?
Do you think i should let some private store to open the phone (i would loose the warranty), or in other words, is there a chance they would be able to fix it?
Can i contact SE head office or any other>> and complain about the irrelivance of the regional warranty.....as they are a global company and should support their customers......? Would they do anything?
Is there anything i could do besides going back to russia(i am not even sure in which store it was purchased and it wold cost a half of the phone to send it there....or $2000 for me to fly there)?
Please! Help! I cannot live without my baby (w800i)......i cannot afford a new one.

This could be anything, really.
Moist, lose connections somewhere...
Do you have friends in Europe who could help you out?
The easiest would be to send the phone, and paperwork, to them and ask them to hand it in to a service point.
The alternative is to send it off to
US and pay the cost of the repair.

i think both sending it to russia and back or fixing it fom my $ in the us, would be almost as expensive as getting a new phone......
the thing is i did not wet or drop it.......i did drop it a few times couple month preior....... but nothing happend. This time it was peasefully lying in my pocket......and i fond it dead.
any idea on the steps i could take? people here talk about some firmware..??//or so? i am not very good at all of this.
maby there is something like connecting it to the computer, hitting it 3 times, then replacing a baterry and woala! i dont know......anything?
thanks

You said "A few repair stores tried to reinstall the software.....change a baterry....basically everything exept opening the phone in order not to break the factory seal."
Sounds like you might as well get one of those shops to open it up to have a look.
By the sound of it you've got little to lose on it.

when the servicepoints have tried to reinstall the firmware, do you know if they got the computer to communicate with the phone or is it dead?
if the can communicate with the phone it might be due to that they don't have access to the right firmware versions (servicepoints which aren't the highest service level, HVC, only have access to their country/operator firmware versions).. if the haven't got the phone to communicate with the computer they have to run a special recovery script (using a special cable, not the ordinary cable used for flashing) in EMMA III in order to have it back to life again...
I doubt it would help opening the phone, unless it has been damaged by liquid... it sounds as it's either a firmware problem or some problem with the flashmemory that stores the firmware...

that sounds like the truth!
what i was thinking, there must be only a few reasons the phone could die like that.........and if a person is good with electronic and technical stuff, they could probably figure it out.
the reason i didnt let the service gues to open it in the first place, is that i hardly believe it can be fixed.....unless it is a problem with software or...
and the only way there is a point for me to send it to SE is to get a new one. but it is too unreasonable and expensive.
ANYWAYS, if the problem is fireware, or what ever it is called.....any particular steps i could take. I have the original cord to connect it to computer, would thet help? and where would i get the proper software.....
\\Any sugestions? please!

Just say, does in your country the weather is wet?? I remember that in a wet morning y blowed to mi Movil Phone and it Turned Of inmediately, so i removed the battery and waited some minutes, then the phone turned on normally... Y could be some warm vapor wich entered in the cold phone and become liquid.... and sulphated some chip...

Said Firmware..
...
Anyways, the original cord will not helop you if the phone doesn't start to charge when you plug it to te computer.
The only way is to use anhoter cord, used to unlock the phone, which is connected to the serial port in the PC, if the technician can acces to the phone, it means that the phone is alive, but if he doesn't the phone could be severely damaged and you may have just an aluminium case whith plastic and silice in it, some tin and nothing to do but trying to make validate the warranty

the best thing is to have
fix it... if it need a recovery flash you can't do it yourself (unless you buy some other thirdparty flash software which might be able to fix your phone, but it's not recommended)
