orange is poised to strike new deals with the distribution channel allowing Sim-free stock to be sold on the network, following an agreement with Carphone/Hugh Symons that will see it connect generic handsets within weeks.

I'm not entirely sure about this move - Orange says all handsets still have to be approved, and the sceptic in me says they might still require the handsets to be SIM-locked even though they're not branded.

This sounds like Orange are sick of loosing customers to competitors due to slow allocation of branded stock from manufacturers-then again i could be wrong! Ha

wow they have finally seen sense about time too nothing worse than branding i can put up with phones being locked as thats easy to sort does this mean they cannot put those stupid logos on the casing too.
