Anyone can explain where the differences lie? Of course, one is by PC and the other is by GPRS..

You've answered your own question!

OTA updates don't need a PC - SEUS does.

Is it only for the sake of convenience?

As far as I can guess there's a few reasons why they've done this:

- SEUS only works with Windows PCs. Mac & Linux users can't use it.
- The latest SE phones now have enough memory to download a firmware update to it directly so its now technically possible.

The disadvantage is that currently firmware updates are rather large. Anything up to ~20mb in size. How SE expect people to download files of that size over-the-air is anyone's guess. Unless you have an unlimited GPRS plan and a lot of time it's going to be quite expensive.

I don't really understand why SE don't do what other device manufacturers do (such a digital cameras). Have a download area on their web-site where you can download a single firmware file to your computer (regardless of operating system), transfer the file to the phone via cable/bluetooth, then go to a 'Update Firmware' option in the menu.

Would be a lot easier...

According to SE site, the update file size via OTA is only 1.5 to 3 MB which varies from phone to phone. Then, why needs 10-65 MB
update file via SEUS if smaller size of file can be obtained via OTA? Does SE only update what needs to be 'renewed' -maybe 10% of the total firmware-by OTA, while replacing 100% F/W components via SEUS?
Which one is more reliable,then?
