I don't know if you've heard of this already, but l thought I'll share with you anyway.
By converting your Mp3 to Mp4 you can save about 50% of space on your MS,therefore you can put more songs on your MS without losing sound quality.
e.g:Mp3(5MB) can be 2.1 when converted to Mp4 and sound quality stays the same.I have over 70 songs on my 128MB MS.Use any converter utility to convert.I use IM TOO 3gp converter but l think anyone will do just fine with the right codecs ofcourse.Only difference is that you playback the converted files with your built-in video player. The music player does not support Mp4,so when sending the files from pc the destination must be videos on your phone.
Now you have more music on your phone.
ENJOY.

Or you can just use Ogg Format and squeeze even more in. 80KB works fine for me.

what about Atrac3plus from sony? some Walkman CD players come with a software to convert MP3 to atrac3plus format. I have never used it, but a man in a music store told me its very good format.

Advanced audio coder.
An audio-encoding standard for MPEG-2 that is not backward-compatible with MPEG-1 audio.
