what kind of video file does this phone play??

how come it plays some mp4 files and not others. i have 4 mp4 files on my phone that work fine , but i have added another 8 and they dont work , they come up as a wee symbol with mp4 on it , where as the ones tht work as well as a couple that dont work have film strips as their icon.
Really needing your help here lads.

it could be that the video dimensions are bigger than the screen can handle , does it only play the music or do you get a red screen and a little music for a second ?
