Almost everyone here uses a PDA or something like it, today. Ever wonder how the PDA came to be what it is? A little lesson in history.
Who do you think created the first PDA, as we know of it today, Microsoft? Palm? Psion? (Btw, Psion Created Epoch in 1994, the OS which has evolved into Symbian OS Today), IBM?
Well, the answer is:
Yes, Apple! Apple created the Newton which was the first PDA. Do not confuse a PDA with a Digital Organiser, Digital Organisers existed for over a decade before apple came out with the newton. The newton had its own OS, and apple supplied a SDK which was use by programmers to write and sell programs for it. The newton was particularly popular amongst architects and engineers, probabaly because of its touch screen.

@jc: Psion was indeed before the newton, but it did not have the pda form factor, nor did it have the ability to install apps till the series II. Newton is indeed the great grand daddy of the pda's sold today.
