these sankes can swim, probably snuck up to it and started wrapping itself around the hippo to squeezeit to death. anyway, it looks a young or baby hippo anyway, i doubt a snake, no matter how big could be arsed to take on a full adult hippo, who would lol. same thing why lions don't bother even thinking about trying to kill an adult elephant.
