> W950i - when?
Bookmark topic
Well, after switching to the dark side (Windows Mobile) for some years, SE decided to bring me back with the W950i. IWOOT!
But when is this fabulous phone expected to arrive? I have tried to find the answer, but all I can find is vague information claiming that Q3 might be right. That is far to long for me to wait.
Oh, and could someone enlighten me as to how the OS X support for SE phones is these days? I have recently switched, and the thought of having to dual boot in order to sync or manage files on my phone is pissing me off.
Please excuse my broken english; I'm filty drunk.

August? Well, better luck next time, SE. I do not intend to wait 4 (+) months for a product that SE claims will arrive "Soon". I might as well expect Neonode to release the N2 next week.

Well I already have w800 so will go for the M600. figure it to be cheaper since no 4gb hard drive.

@DocDibble: The w950 don't have a 4gb harddrive but 4gb memory chip.

On slap's second question - I too am interested to know the extent of the compatability with Mac OS, re: iCal, SMS backup, phonebook backup, firmware flash and USB cable. Cheers.

@ S4K1s. You need to check your facts. It clearly states on esato as well as the official SE website that W950 has 4gb internal memory. Maybe it was just an oversight on your part. That happens to me sometimes too.

@DocDibble: read my post right m8
w950 got 4gb memory
chip not harddrive. It is a big difference, since hdd's are still a bit fragile and chip's are not.
So I was just pointing out that there is no harddrive in the phone.

As for OSX support, check the following:
1. Bluetooth will basically sync with address book and calendar.
2. Installation of software should be the same as my P910 now... simply send the install file via bluetooth to the phone; the phone will detect it as an installable software and will prompt installation.
3. This is the most interesting to me... it seems that SE has included "mass storage device" function to the phone... thus it will be reasonable to state that with the provided USB cable, once hooked up to the Mac, the phone's 4gig chip will be recognised as an external storage device... much like a thumb drive! Imagine the file transfer rate (movies, music and what have you...) with USB2.0 standard of transfer!!!
Anyone care to verify point number 3?

According to SE this is indeed a fact. Pretty awesome?
For those to lazy to follow the link, USB 2.0 Mass storage, High speed (480 Mbps) is listed under connectivity for the W950.
Now if they only could manage to release this gem a bit sooner than august...
