Hi,
I tried to encode a movie with mpegable x4 and experienced really confusing problems. I tried to stick with these options, but no matter what I do, the result vid comes out 4x faster than it should be.

preview file ~300kb here

Maybe someone can tell me what may cause that? Tnx.

Im a litle unclear - you mention mpegable, and link to a guide for nero recode ?

Did you use Nero Recode as described in the guide, or did you use mpegable with the settings from the nero recode guide ?

Using Nero Recode you should never have any troubles (if you follow the guide to the letter)
Nero Recode is the best option of all.

yeah, I kinda tried to stick with those options.

I really don't like one thing about Nero Recode - max 15 fps. It doesn't work out for me if I convert a full length movie because obviously it needs more than 15 fps. well, a lil slows down at the end of every second. I could use 20 fps.

I realised I was using the old version of mpegable - v1, now I downloaded v 2.2 and tried to stick with these options BUT there AGAIN seems to be a problem - the vid came out without any sound. When I click Movie Info, it shows that Audio Bitrate is 0kb/s, but I clearly remember I've set it to 96kb/s. In the phone, it says "Playback failed / Cannot play this movie".
That's annoying, I can't convert the damn movie properly since, like, Wednesday. :/

The phone is designed for max 15fps playback, as part of the officieal 3gp specs.
I dont know what you mean by that wont work out for you, or why you think it obviously need atleast 20fps, but I think you misunderstand the concept.
Using 15fps does not slow down or ruin the movie in the end, no matter how long it is. It only means that the clip is encoded using 15frames per second, and I assure you theres no way you can see the difference on the phone. I also assure you if you try using 20-25fps you will have troubles with synching and skipping or even total failure of playback, when playing back the clips on the phone. The hardware cannot handle more than 15fps properly. Nero Recode is by far the best in both quality of conversion, stability and compatibility of playback, and versatility of input formats it can handle.

When mpegable are turning out a file with 0kb/s audio bitrate, then you are feeding it a sourceclip with audio encoded in some format that mpegable cannot handle - like ac3 audio. It may also be because you lack the proper directshow filter to decode the audiotrack of the sourcefile - a directshow filter that mpegable can utilize when converting to mp4/aac
