hi guys.. you can guess by the name... i'm a novice!!
got my sony w810i 48 hours ago and was blissfully happy with it until i was copying mp3's over from my laptop to phone using the supplied cable.
the cable was pulled out of the phone after mp3's were loaded and the phone screen flashed white a couple of times and then it froze completely.
i couldnt turn the phone off so i took the battery out, replaced it and tried to start again and now the phones starts up but only shows a screen that says INFO and if you click that it says OK then if you click that it says INFO and so on and on and on!!.
now i'm no phone pro but to me it looks likes i've managed to wipe the software from the phone completely as if ive formatted it! doh.
you guys got any ideas for me as ive got no real warranty for the sony cos it was a purchase from ebay
(can i just remind you that it was working perfectly until the data transfer mishap)!
thanks fella's

i was also tryig to install a game onto the phones memory and didnt know when to put it... so i tried putting it in 2 locations 1st was in the 'system' folder on the phone and the second was in the 'download/temp' folder on the magic gate stick.
could this have brought the demise of my 810i !!
/o/
and if so would i be able to fix the problem by just replacing the files that i meddled with with a copy of sum1 elses from another phone? (anyone willing to help me attempt this one?)
funnily enough b4 i pressed the walkman button and it began playing the songs i had installed.. but screen stayed on the 'info/ok' bit.
w e a r d.
ciao 4 now

Got the same problem here - but mine din't last the day.
Whilst transfering files the usb cable got pulled out and it froze. Battery out and restart and all i get is a white flashing screen.
I'm assuming its got to go back and be reflashed, but can any one tell me if the new w810 flash from davinci team will sort it out? Used them with my k700i but will it totally void warrenty on my new vodaphone w800i - orf can I reset it to vodaphone after fixing it with davinci??

novice: have you tried taking the MSD out before powering the phone on? i managed to kill an msd with my w800 (old firmware) before, and it wont power on with the stick inserted. if that doesnt work, looks like you corrupted the fw itself and have to have it reflashed. i'll PM you my IM details, in case you want help with that
trot: whatever bugs are in the latest firmware will be there, even if it's davinci. but if you need your phone to work now, youre not really left with a choice here

easiest way would be to exchange the phone for a new one from the ebay person.

Post-W800 phones are proned to WSOD during USB file transfers because of the restart-to-FileTransfer-mode thing that W550, W900, W600, and W810 have.
My sister's W900 got WSOD once when she accidentally pulled off the USB cable while her W900 is rebooting to File Transfer mode. Got fixed only thru a service centre.

http://www.davinciteam.com/
I would do a repair or reflash using generic firmware from davinciteam - Im quite sure that would fix your problem as well as debranding the phone which is only an improvement. Remove MSD while doing it.
You need to buy 1 or 2 instant log accounts and download the latest clientsoftware and DCU60 usb cable drivers.
