> K800 joystick improved?
Bookmark topic
Hi,
Has the K800's joystick improved over the K750's etc. Like it was a major open gate for dust and dirt with the K750 and also 'some' people claimed there were issues of ware on it or the dust making the joystick unresponsive. Does anyone know if Sony Ericsson have corrected this or said anything about it, or something in a review/preview etc. If not i suppose i'll have to contact SE myself.
Thanks.

Well from what I have heard, it is apparently a totally enclosed unit, stopping dust getting into it.

if you look at the pics, even if the dust can't get to the rest of the phone, it sure might annoy you with dust going even into the joystick area, might be hard to clean out.

the joystick on the v600 is completely sealed thus not allowing dust to get underneath it. the joystick is attached to the keypad. i've had this phone for about six months and no dust at all has gotten under the keypad. let's hope SE use the same design in k800. by the looks of it the joystick appears to be the same.

indeed, at k750 it was a major bug that hole around the joy. dont really get, why would be so hard to put a rubber ring on the upper apart of the joy to avoid such a bug. another thing: does k8 has metal joy ( just as k600i ) ?

it was very annoying and my biggest anger source was the dust gettting under the screen and building up via the joystick's 'open gate'. hold the k750 at an angle and you can see into the phone from the joystick hole. so it looks like they won't be making that mistake again with the k800/k790.

seems that for sE its not that important then. is that the right way to save some money at manufacturing?

@boba The K800 isn't metal.
Oh, and I don't think that anyone can say for sure whether or not the K800 joystick is good or not. We'll have to wait a few months after release to get a real answer for that.

but didn't SE say they've sorted it and dust/dirt etc can't get to the phone via the joystick area, therefore also not causing any joystick irresponsiveness. the k750's joystick was not crap at all! despite the obviously open door to the phone, the actual joystick was great.
