I'm on Orange (UK) and my W810i doesn't have the Update Service either. I think Orange have just ommitted it, as they always muck about with theie phones' software.

I remember the outrage that ensued when they released the K700i and removed the Shortcuts menu and replaced it with another (pointless) camera button. They also put a little sub-menu on the desktop screen which has now become the HomeScreen that the top right silver button takes you to.

I want to update my W810i and am tempted to try the USB solution but no one's telling us what's new or different in the latest software/FW version!

i think t mob and orange are as bad as each other, by not having the update service on the phone. at the moment apart from the flash light problem, which seemed to be resolved(touch wood) after doing a master reset. things seem to be fine on my t mobile phone

Are you saying that if I do a master reset I will get more features on my Orange W810i?

Unless you have unlimited data of GPRS/EDGE, Over The Air Update Service is worth-doing...just use your normal broadband connection...it's much safer...
