> W810i Dropped calls/reception problems

Hi,
I have been using my T-Mobile UK W810i for a couple of weeks now and I'm getting v. annoyed by the call failure rate.
I can be 5 mins into a call and then it starts to breakup and distort and finally dies - all this despite the reception showing as max. When i call people back they can hear me but I can't hear them... give it a few minutes and it'll briefly work again. I can also watch the reception go from nill to max over and over while the mobile is stationary. Oddly i was on the mobile to T-mobile CS and it worked fine through the whole call...
T-Mobile have said it could be due to recent work on the network in the areas i've been using the phone, the sim card or obviously the phone itself.
I've read people having the same issue with the phone in the US. Any reports this side of the Atlantic??
(PS. I also noticed the 'G' icon (GPRS) changing to 'E' (EDGE) now and again, but T-Mobile UK don't support EDGE as far as I'm aware... could this be related at all?)

Already have and using the latest Firmware (R4CE012). Was wondering if that was actually the cause?

it's not the firnware it;s a currupted gdfs that needs a reflash

i am on t mobile in the uk, i have the same firmwear, however i don't have any problems at all. looks like you seem to have a handset that might be for the usa only, maybe the usa t mobile network. if i was you, i would get a replacement handset from t mobile.

guys trust me on this one.. i've flashed enough phones.. some phones have a corrupted gdfs that's causing hand off issues from tower to tower.
if you want to fix it just reflash with davinci /setool or whatever and the issue will go away.
i had r4ce flashed r4ce no issues, updated to r4cf no issues, now using r4ck no issues... it's just a gdfs corruption

The dropped call problem ony seem to exist in NorthAmerica (NA) and can occur both when moving and when stationary (depends on your location). Rewriting the GDFs by reflashing the phone with same FW seem to fix the problem for most people.
Now, of course there may be phones with hardware fault, which may show similar behaviour, but since you live in NA I believe its a software problem in your case.

you can be switching towers even if you're not moving....
just reflash the phone... everyone else that has.. has fixed their phone...
