would help if we knew what your using to send the theme to your phone? WAP, InfraRed, BlueTooth, Cable etc.
go to
http://www.christersson.org/ and download 'Sendfile'.

@rcsm
sometimes theme files get corrupted.
hence, you cant open it.
happened to me a number of times already...
i make my themes using the
christersson software... and sometimes after saving my work, i just cant open it again.
only happens sometimes, not often..

Themes Creator has his own "self-made" function for tarring/untarring TAR files (themes are simple renamed TAR archives). But because there are some different versions/specifications of TAR file format, Themes Creator will have problems with some themes - will not be able to open it.
If you can't open theme in Themes Creator, this doesn't mean that this theme is corrupt! And if you didn't know, in some versions below 4.2.x you couldn't open even the pre-defined themes from T68i!
Try to open next time this "corrupt" theme with Theme Creator Pro. I'm sure you will be able to open it! If not, you will get an "easy to understand explanation" why not
@rcsm
Are you sure that the error message "can't open this file" is correct???
If you get "Can't open item. Delete item?" error message, this means that some theme tags have the same color value.
Example: you can't have the same color for background and text or background and operator name. There are many more color combinations!
