> w800 not being noticed by laptop
Bookmark topic
I have recently bought my w800 and have not been able to get my laptop to recognise it when plugging it in with the USB cable. I have reloaded the disc several times to see if that would help but to no avail. subsequenlty I haven't been able to download my photos and only have access to the memory card. Has anyone come across this problem before and can anyone suggest a fix ?

Tried that but although it installs that no problem, my laptop still isn't showing the phone as being connected other than beeping when I take the USB cable in or out.

My V800 shows up at My Computer > Removable Disc (F:)
I've never used the USB cable actually. I prefer B/T for small files and Card Reader for large ones.
Call me weird but I just prefer being cable-free.

I had the same problem with my w800i and my computer. In the end what i did was just keep clicking on my phones and it eventually came up. make sure in my phones that you have all the com ports enabled.

Install SP2 & reconnect with another USB port. Try to clean contacts in the phone (my friend has a few cakes in it

if you're using the provided USB cable - your phone should show up as a removable drive in your My Computer window. like someone said earlier, it's show up as "Removable Disk" with the corresponding letter.
if you're using bluetooth, you have to have bluetooth on your laptop. getting to your phone using this depends on the bluetooth software you have on your laptop. if you want to transfer files, you'll have to enable the OBEX file transfer thingie on your computer for the phone, or just pick a COM port for use as a bluetooth serial port. also depends on what kind of bluetooth software you have - some let you have a go at it, while some require you to add your phone as a device, and vice versa, then you have to pair them, etc...
