Hi guys n girls

OK, got an interesting one for you, I've just bought a DVD of a TV series. However, in the second episode the playback just freezes up, theres no subtitles or anything on. The strange bit is that the other episodes work fine, theres no scratches on the disc, and most strangely, on ym mates PC it runs fine. Its just the last 5mins of my programme, so its really bugging me! I've updated my graphics drivers, tried using real player and WMP, also reinstalled WMP, no change.

Cheers

May be its a write error on the particular part, happens to me when i burn a lot of dvd's some tend to have a few errors, but maybe thats not the case with you.
using dvd decryptor or something try to copy dvd to pc .
and maybe also check disc quality if u have got nero or similar software.

I am ok with pc's mate and have encountered simular problems, im sure theres an easier way to fix this but being as hardly noone has offered you some help, i thought i'd give you a last resort. Basically when this happened to me, i was lost too and couldnt find any help. I re-installed windows, fresh everything (didnt use any transfering software) just had to install drivers teh lot. this sorted it mate. I know there has to be an easier way, but my philsophy is that if im stuck, i re-install everything... i really dont mind doing that because your pc runs liek a beast for a while then, coz it aint got loads of crap on it, also give you a great excuse to back up all your data never know when that may come in handy

hope i've helped a lil bit mate, and if you do find out how to fix it, i hope you share it

all the best

It's possibly an error with the DVD drive itself. There could be a sticky bit on the drive track that causes the lens to jerk as it's reading that particular part of the disk, resulting in corrupted data that can cause your PC to lock up. It's a strange fault that doesn't manifest itself with all disks, very often just a few. Remember that we're talking about very precise movements here!

Try a different DVD drive with your PC, if possible.
