so i got a new laptop and at the moment i dont have the original CD drivers, so i downloaded them from here :

did everything as the instructions said so, hooked it up to the computer via the USB cable and it says that "the hardware was not instaled because the wizard could not find the necessary software"

so what am i missing? or what have i done wrong?

i should mention that i have no other SE program installed

so i tried a re-boot, and stil nothing, is there anyother program that i need to instal first before i instal the USB software? when i first got the phone i managed to instal everything on my desktop and i vaguely remembering updating something but cant remember what...

the laptop is a new purchase from Dell, the OS is xp media center edition, and it says that it has service pack 2.

It seems you should reinstall related softwares, maybe even your os.
for a temporary solution, use a memory reader to transfer your photos to pc.
