I've just been on the phone to Orange CS asking about upgrades, phones etc etc and when I enquired about the fabled P990, I was told that only the CarphoneWarehouse will have exclusive rights to this.

Anyone here work for CPW who can confirm/deny this?

Usually with Orange you have to phone three times to get the 'best of three' answers!

Personally, I don't believe it. Although even CPW don't know when they'll be getting it - their website says May and their May catalogue says July.

CPW have had exclusive rights to sell Nokia and Motorola phones in the past before other companies/networks, so it is not impossible for them to have the P990 before others. When the P990 was first added to the CPW 'Coming Soon' section the web site did claim that if you register early you'll get a 'exclusive offer' and CPW was the first retailer to claim a significant shift in delivery date from January to May. Also CPW still claim availability in May!

No they don't. The latest CPW catalogue clearly says JULY.
I know their website says May...they've got 13 days to be proved wrong or change it!

any company could get the exclusive, just depends who pays the most for it!!!

I think that commerically it would be a good idea to do it, there is such a demand for the handset that surely they'd benefit from an exclusivity deal.

not if SE keep everyone waiting for ages - doesnt matter who gets the handset first - if its released too late, then they will lose a lot of potential, annoyed, waited-too-long customers to other phones!

Rubbish CPW reckon they have an exclusive for EVERYTHING. Yeah for about 24 hours! All Marketing ploy, nothing more.

Sometimes they state as exclusive in their mags just to generate interest.

The only time they have come good on Exclusivity was the pink v3.
