Hmm, its a good story, all Dan Brown has done is taken a few different theories, and weaved them together with a bit of storytelling magic. Its an excellent book, but thats all, if someone is secure in their faith, then i see no reason to get worked up about it.

I haven't read the book so I only have a sketchy idea of what it's about.

Why is the Catholic Church so resistant to the idea that Jesus may have been married and had child/ren?

Quiet agree with Fatreg and Spirited Methylz last line.. I sometimes do hold personal beliefs more than religous one.. one of which says- Questioning Religious beliefs is okay, if done sensibly.. started a thread too, on the corollary. Its thread number 121955 in this same section (everybody loves a good ban) This message was posted from a S700

Because he is depicted as being perfect, being a virgin, and being the son of God. He wouldn't taint himself with imperfect humans that way. Also, look up Nephilim and then decide if they are justified in their opposition to Jesus having children, if that fable is anything to go by.

it is quite a good point as an un married man in those times would have been looked down on greatly. it was very uncommon in those days for a man not to be married by the age of 20 let alone be single till the age of 31.
