Hi, My son just purchased a W600I from cingular and so far I'm not having any luck getting the disc2phone or PC suite to load on our old computers. Both of our PCs are running windows 98se. Is there any way to get around using this software to load MP3s on to this phone?
Thanks for your help.

yes
you jsut connect the phone via usb
go to the drive G (or wat ever letter) That is called phone card, go to music or mp3, and paste the files in - you'll want to make a file with the albumn then a file witht eh aritis inside that and int eh aritist fiel the acctual track then it will work fine on the phone witht eh albumn and artists all shown int he write place -if your nto botherd about the organisation just paste the Mp3s in,
good luck
(i use this method it is quicker than letting the dis 2 phone wrk its stuff)

win98 won't recognize card as a drive.
Better way is using bluetooth.

Thanks for the reply but I'm not to quick with computers. When I plug the phone into the computer it tries to find a driver for it. Do I just assign it a drive such as a standard USB or is there something else I should be looking for?

Any other ideas???? The Sony help website told me that the phone should ask wether to be in phone or tranfer mode when I hook it up. It doesn't. How can I make my computer see it as and external drive without loading a driver for it? I'm trying to avoid buying a new computer for a call phone.
Thanks for any help...

Your computer needs a driver before it will recognise the W550i. The only problem is that SE decided not to make a driver that works on Windows 98se or lower.
As suggested, the only way to connect the phone to the computer is to use bluetooth.

Thanks again. OK so I'm old and haven't the least idea on how I would go about getting blue tooth on my old computer. Does anyone care to give me a quick rundown.
Much appreciated.

Think you have USB port on your computer, then purchase USB Bluetooth adapter (dongle) with Bluetooth software, first install Bluetooth software (BlueSoleil or Widcomm or another one), run it and then insert adapter into USB port. Run Bluetooth Device Discovery, then an icon of your mobile will appear, click it and you'll see all accessible services, select Bluetooth File Transfer, further everything is simply. Bluetooth software supports Win98SE. Luck
