> Predictive text function not working (K750i)

I've got a UK (02) K750i with the latest firmware upgrade. I'm not sure if this problem occured after the upgrade, but I can no longer use predictive text.
When I type a new text message, pressing and holding the * key no longer switches the mode. A Single click of * switches between A and Aa. The function definitely works as when I dial a number, I can press and hold the * to get a p (presumably that's a pause command)
Does anyone else have this problem? I'm trying to avoid a master reset as I don't want to lose all my apps.

This has happened to me after using wap, but after a couple of times of resetting the phone, I discovered this...
While in a blank text messge, press "more" and then press "writing language" and select "english", then press and hold your * button and your T9 should reappear.
