Hi guys,

I have a feeling that the answer is going to be "no don't be silly" but....

You can buy FM transmtters like the I-trip but for use with any MP3 player.

As I understand it the transmitter plugs into the headphone socket of the player and sends the signal to your car radio (and yes I know they are not legal in some countries but they are in others).

Since the W550i and probably the other walkman phones have an adaptor so that any headphone can be attached, would it be possible to attach an FM transmitter?

And because the adaptor changes the phone profile to hands free could you then hear phone calls as well as music through your car stereo?

I know that your would have to consider the micrphone but I just thought it was an interesting thought.

Most of them r under £10 but i dunno about the quality.
You will be able to connect it to the handsfree kit of the w550.

Interesting thought indeed!
You should be able to plug that into the cord of the phone and use themic, because themic is in the plug... You might get in trouble with the reverb or echo since the sound of the speakers probably will reach the mic.
You could in the same way attach the cord directly to your home stereo and hear your caller through the speakers. Same possible reverb problem.

Sorry Carkitter.

Did a search for transmitter but that thread calls it a modulator. I'm not that technical. I won't be doing all the technical stuff in your thread but I might get one and plug it in and see what happens.

DeLa - thank you for your comments. I'll let you know how I get on if I try it.

@Alye

errr... sorry if I sounded harsh, I didn't mean to.
Welcome to Esato!

@Nitro

What's wrong with the search? If you have a problem with it, perhaps you could PM Laffen with some ways to improve it!

S'ok Carkitter & Nitro, I've lurked here for a while but only post if I need to know something or have something to add (but you are all so much more knowledgable than me).

Anyway no offence taken it was just searching for the wrong terminology that let me down.

Oh and I'm a "she" not a "he"
