Is it viewable with the backlight off?

Yes you can. And the advantage is that it's a monochrome screen as well which means that it's even easier to read.

How would you compare the internal screen of Z530 with Z520 ???

Although I haven't compared the two myself, in theory, and I'm pretty sure about this, TFT (Z520) screens provide a better picture quality than UBC (Z530) displays. I'd would go 90%in favour of the Z520 as TFT is an active matrix screen over the Z530 which is a passive matrix screen.

the external display is also "negative" that means only the characters displayed are lit.
It actually easier to read with lots of sunlight so I think it's great.
In a darker room it would be difficult though, you'll have to press the side keys then.
I have this little phone for over a week now and I am delighted with it. Sure, the screen is not the best you can get, sure the camera is not great, sure the media player is not the best but still it can do it all.
I can see also some improvements in the UI over the W800i
Then when it comes down to the price... I think it's really hard to beat.
Also might be worth checking is the W300 as it will have a TFT internal screen and a memory card. (the only drawback I have with the Z530, they don't supply a M2 card with it, even a small one I would have been ok with it)
My two cents...

Does the screen looks very washed as that of older STN screens

Any bugs in the phone so far ???

@c_vignesh
UBC screens are replacing CSTN and STN screens. Obviously they're not good compared to TFT screens, but they are an improvement. So no, it wouldn't look as washed out.

See

As for the looks, judge for yourself.

Since the external display is monochrome does that mean that it doesn't go to a "screensaver" mode?
