I've just bought an w810i and i'm pretty siticfied. But one thing really bothers me. The sounds of message- and warningssignals are VERY low compared to the ringtone.
It's like the software locks the sound at the start of it and then increases it. It doesn't help taking a MP3 as a signal. Is this a well known bug or what?
I mailed Sony Ericsson about this but they didn't understand what I meant. They just answered that you can't turn the volume of the messagesound up itself, it comes with the volume of the ringtone.

Very thankful for answers on this one.

Two things. Turn up teh ringtone volume to max. Make sure increasing ring is off. See if that helps at all.

That doesn't work...

The end of the sound, if I pick a longer one is high, but the beginning of the sound is really low

I didn't even know that there was a built in function that increses the messagesignal Smells like some kind of software problem.

I think you have right!
It must be a softwareproblem. It is like that on my W810 also, and my other phones from SE didn't have that problem.
I have also contacted SE about the problem, but they do as you say, know nothing about it. (I think they do)

Send me a PM, and I can send you a sound that are long enough to hear!
It is a bzzzz-sound (Like a mosquito) and it works well on my phone!
