I've just muddled through doing an update on my P910 - can I just install the backup I made to restore all my settings, programs etc?

Well, after messing about, it seems the answer is "No".
Not a valid back up file.
Tried jigging with time stamps, using a different PC...
Hours of my life wasted

Why do I keep getting 'Invalid backup file'?

It's saying that all my previous backups are invalid.
I am deeply unhappy here!!
Anyone help??

Normally restore should work after a firmware update. Apparently somehow your backup files became corrupted. Try looking into the .ecs files with a zip viewer. Search this forum for more info on backup files.

I made the backup just before the update - my backup from the month before wont work, none - even from 2 years ago!!
I'll have a look for the decompiler but I'm pretty much resigned with having to hate SE for eternity...

Okies - I've read a few other posts about this...
How do I fool the phone into thinking the .ecs is good - there must be a stamp somewhere (I tried changing the .dat file in the folder that holds the backups) or can I make a new backup and insert the old files in?
