Hello, I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. Recently i lost my old phone (SE K700i) and so now i need a new phone, i know what phone i want, thats the SE W810i however all my phones before have been PAYG. Finally it occured to me, that in my situation i could save a bundle if i got it on pay monthly, this is where i have a problem.
Allthough i'm quite clued up on phones i know nothing about the pay monthly tariff and have a few questions and was wondering if anyone could help me.
1. What would happen after 12 months when it come to an upgrade, and what would happen to my current phone (ie. would i keep it)
2. If after 12 months there wasn't a handset i wanted to upgrade to would i be able to wait for another without having to commit myself to a 12 months contract with that handset that i would be using at the time.
3. If i lost the phone or it was stolen would i have to continue to pay the line rental?
4. Finally if i purchased it off the carphone warehouse, who would the payments be made to?
Hope you can help me!

After 12 months you keep the phone after you upgrade. If you lose the phone and you don't take out insurance you have to pay for a new one. With insurance it will be replaced very quickly. A contract is a contract. You have to pay it regardless of what happens.

Payments are made to the operator, just like PAYG.

Oh and after the end of your contract you get either a new handset or reduced monthly charge may be even both, depending on the operator.
