hi, I'm using a W550 for some days, but I need to configure GPRS, the thing is that on the Internet settings, on creating a new profile, you can only fill the name of the profile and WAP profile to use, I had used a T226 and T630 and on both of these you can input an IP adress too, and I need to input that IP addres, or else internet doesn't work. please tell me, is this normal? or maybe it's due that it's the chineese version?

you change the ip address in the data account in the data comms menu. (connectivity settings). This is how it works on the K750, from what I understand W550 has a similar interface.

yes, I am aware of that, but the problem is that this IP address needs to be imputed in the Internet settings, it has some 0s, so if I input them in data comm., they dissapear if you look back at it. I have tried this too, but the internet doesn't load

funny, if you had mentioned in the first post that you can input the ip address but not the zero's then I wouldn't have assumed you didn't know where to change the ip address.

I can change the ip address on my K750 no worries, using zero's or whatever. It stays changed when I check it later. If your provider only allows dynamic ip assignment then putting your own ip address won't work. The phone won't be able to make a gprs connection to the provider if the ip address needs to be dynamically assigned.

You may also be able to have your provider sms you the gprs settings - there is no reason you should need to manually set up your connection.

If the chinese version won't allow input of ip address, and also can't be configured by sms from the provider - then you will need a new phone my friend. Or davinci it to another firmware - say an american one.

it was all really superb, I had read about it here and I had wanted to own a K750 for some time. Knowing that the software is very similar, I fell really satisfied and as happy as people who upgrade from low end to high end phones it's really a very diferent thing reading about it in esato than holding and manipulating one yourself, the only thing that I didn't try out is the internet. Anyway I returned it to my friend already and I hope she could lend it to me again some other day cheers
