It could be an ex-K750i, that's what my W800i is. Not sure if it happens with all W800i conversions, but whenever I plug the headphones/handsfree into the phone then take them out, it doesn't recognise that I've taken them out - perhaps try that?
I haven't tried updating my W800i's firmware yet, bit worried in case it would flash it back to being a K750i! Has anyone tried updating the firmware of an ex-K750i?

hey sammy, nah the handsfree works poperly when i take them in and out. Perhaps you should try a new handsfree, i think that happens alot. the gold lining must of detached itself.

What about the informations from the IMEI sticker? (under the battery)
There is written (in the lower right side) what modell it is. But if there is no IMEIsticker, the cover is changed later and it's not the cover the phone left the factory.
You will never be able to update an K750i->W800i phone, because SEUS and EMMA III always makes a check of IMEI, CDA and modell name. If they don't match the database, the update won't start.

If it was an original k750i and you flash using seus it will flash it back to a k750. the only way to flash with recent w800 firmware is davinci and that will cost ya a credit for each flash!!

A comment on the original post:
The new firmware update doesn't fix the mp3-hissing as far as I know. Still waiting for the update to arrive for W800i so haven't tried it though.
