I was just wondering if there's an EFFECT if I will be buying an old (stock) original

battery (for a T68i / BST-14)

Last week, I manage to get me a brand new one: BST-14/Rubberized Black for my T68i, stand-by time is of the normal - 3 to 4 days with minimal usage . . . I know that this is already an 'old' stock (2003) and it is already 2006 now, it's been in hiatus for 3 years

! My query then is this . . . is there any 'draining of cells' effect for an original battery for being DORMANT for years

I mean, had I bought this one 3 years ago and have used it under normal use and charge, in a way I still feel that it will be usable up to this date as it's an original one . . . Your thought mates ? Thanks!

Even a brand new battery gets old when it is not in use for a long time. Is 3 years such a long time? I don't know... But if your battery has been kept in good environment (normal room temperature, no sun, no much humidity, no dust, not dropped down), it still must be in quite a good condition. Especially when we are talking about the battery of T68/T68i.

I'm pretty sure that your "new old" battery will be more powerful after several charging/completely draining cycles.

@boba - Yeah, looks like just 4 days at the most . . . as I can't even 'match' that of Aivar's astonishing accomplishment - 7.5 days (stand-by) . . . Lookslike that the cells have DRIED-UP already, but calls and sms are still normal when used . ..

@aivar - I quite concur with your thoughts matey

It's really true. I have a weird habbit to "measure" the standby duration of my phone, so I know it for sure. If anybody from Sony Ericsson would like to inspect this, I would be glad to be under test

But of course, it must be done in Estonia where I live.
