Anyone managed to configure pop3 access to Gmail (or any other pop3 server using SSL) on SE m600i.

SMTP works fine, but receiving mail fails, I get "Problem connecting, Disconnected" (which is very informative...)

Have tried to change most of the settings and basically whatever I do I get the same error message. Including tick/untick of Secure Socket (which should normally be ticked) and Secure Password auth (which should not be selected).

The only difference is when I change the portnumber, which leads to "Connection time out" (no surprises there...)

So seems like the phone manage to reach the pop server, but the phone and the server does not speak the same language.

Had this working on K750i.

Hi,

Just got my M600i yesterday and have been trying to figure how to configure for gmail pop3. Did you manage to solve it?

Nope, using the latest released SW (R1B01) and it just does not work. Think we'll need to wait for a SW update unless someone throw us some magic.

You're probably aware of the following limitation already, but I wasnt until after I sent the post.

"Please note, Gmail doesn't support 'leave on server' configurations or configurations that download the first portion of a message only. Because of this, it can take a long time and use up a lot of storage to retrieve your Gmail messages via POP"

So I am not sure how useful the pop access really is. Unless you're on a flatrate plan it could potentially be very expensive.

I couldn't get it to work either. So, I tried forwarding my gmail to my demo 4smartphone account that I've been using for my work e-mails and that works pretty good. 4smartphone uses IMAP. You can get a 15 day free demo and if you want to continue, it's $3.99 per month. Check it out at www.4smartphone.net. And no, I don't work for them.
