> New W810i with no USB

Hi everyone.
I recently bought a SE W810i. Its my first SE phone and im loving it BUT........ When I plug in the USB cable the computer wont detect a plugged in device. I plug the cable in to pc and phone and absolutely nothing happens on both ends.
I have downloaded all of the software for the PC but i thought the phone should show up as a device whether the software is working or not so im thinking the phone or cable is stuffed?
Ive tried it on two computers with the same result. The phone will connect using infrared. Unfortunately i bought it from ebay otherwise it would back in in the shop. It will be the last time i buy from overseas i think.
Any ideas?
Oh yeh, i tried a search but i couldnt find anything where someone has had absolutely no connection from the usb.

I heard they wont touch a phone that wasnt bought in Australia. Maybe thats only for warranty cases though? Ill have a go anyway i suppose.
