The Creative Zen .. Its easy to use , good batt. life (nearly twice that of the ipod) reliable. Better value for the money. No complaint on my Creative Zen. And FYI to you ipod fans most of the technology in your beloved ipod was stolen from the Creative zen player which had patents and was on the market over a year before the first ipod came out. Apple lost a suit in august to creative for stealing the technology to use in the ipod. Best buy is the Creative Zen Mp3

I've had both and would definetly prefer the Zen Vision:M

Better battery life, can play more video formats, excellent quality audio, and great software

dont know if the creative supports it but aac are a big draw on the ipod for me. technically superior sound quality to mp3 and wma.
also if you convert to apple lossless you get very very good sounding files.
depends on how important sound quality is to you, if youve got an all in one for your current listening then youll probably not notice much difference but if you do have a decent separates set up then you probably will.

I wish people would stop posting blatant mis-information about battery life.

This is the official battery life, as given by the respective manufacturers product specification pages:

Apple iPod (Specs)

30GB Model Audio Playback time = up to 14 hrs
30GB Model Video Playback time = up to 3.5hrs

80GB Model Audio Playback time = up to 20 hrs
80GB Model Video Playback time = up to 6.5hrs

Creative ZEN Vision:M (Specs)

30GB Model Audio Playback time = up to 14 hrs
30GB Model Video Playback time = up to 4hrs

80GB Model Audio Playback time = up to 16 hrs
80GB Model Video Playback time = up to 5hrs

So, you can see that for audio playback the iPod and ZEN 30GB models are THE SAME.

For video playback the 30GB ZEN will run for maybe 30 mins more than the 30GB iPod

The 80GB iPod will playback audio for 4 hours MORE than the ZEN (and has 20GB more storage)

The 80GB iPod will playback video for 1.5 hours MORE than the ZEN (and has 20GB more storage).

So, in actual fact, the Creative ZEN Vision:M does not have battery life that is "nearly twice that of the ipod".

Only the 30GB ZEN beats the iPod in video playback battery life claims. In every other case the iPod is the same or BETTER than the ZEN.

Please, people, check your facts before posting such inaccurate information.

Also, "most of the technology in your beloved ipod was stolen from the Creative zen player which had patents" is another untrue statement. If you knew anything about anything, you would know that it was just aspects of the hierarchical interface that Creative were lucky enough to patent (even though they didn't invent it).

Have Creative sorted out there headphone jacks on there newer models yet? Had to send back 2 zens because to jacks got f'd up and would only play out of the left side on the headphones.

Due to that i'd go with the ipod.
