I have been trying to set up an email account for gmail pop3 on my new m600i but have not managed to receive incoming email. It seems the m600i have some problems with the SSL implementation on the incoming POP3 side. I have asked the Swedish SonyEricsson support but they have not been able to help me yet. Anyway my workaround is as follows:
1. Set up forwarding from gmail to another non-SSL POP3 account (e.g. gmail @yourdomain.com")
2. Set up a new POP3 email account using your gmail address as email address
3. Set up your non-SSL server on the incoming side
4. Set up the outgoing side according to Google (SSL, port 465 or 587, etc...)
5. Voila! You will now receive your incoming emails to your m600i and all outgoing messages, replies etc will have the correct from-address and will be sent via Gmail and end up in the Gmail sent mail box.
I tried to send and receive and it worked without a glitch! Now I am ready to leave for vacation without missing my gmail emails.

Well you are rather clever to have thought that one through, I have been hunting on the web to find a solution to this, you are correct it is something to do with the SSL incoming setup, it seems you have to get the certificates downloaded to your phone, good luck if you can find them on the web!! Anyway, your solution much easier, did what you said (with a bit of playing around with the settings to figure some bits you had notp out in) and it worked and does work great!!
By the way a good SSL free email is Yahoo, thats what I fowarded my emails from gmail to.
Well done HannesH !! proves you can always find a way round these things if you think about it long enough!
