Hi!

How do you change the OS or install software to a Sony UX-50 or Samsung Q1?

I am thinking to buy one but I cannot work out how to load new software onto it.

I thought that a CD-Player might be part of a base station or something like that!

Any advice welcomed!!

solidsingh!!

thanks very much!

So for these kinds of units, I need to buy a USB CD drive!

I guess each manufacturer sells an expensive dedicated CD-Drive but not need to buy, just get a good brand from the local PC store or online.

Thanks! That is very helpful!!

@ofiaich: I have a U50, It doesn't boot from just any USB CD-Rom drive. It only boots from the Sony DVD-RW drive which connects via the iLink port.

@Fatreg: It has a sticker on it which says 'Designed for windows XP, Windows Vista Capable', So I think it will run vista.

Hi!

Debu, thanks !

" @ofiaich: I have a U50, It doesn't boot from just any USB CD-Rom drive. It only boots from the Sony DVD-RW drive which connects via the iLink port. "

the one that I might buy will be the Japanese model, with Japanese Windows on it. I can survive with Japanese, but a Japanese OS might cause headaches.

So I might want to install UK Windows XP.

Do you have the Sony DVD-RW Drive? I am wondering where to get it and how much it costs!

Can you tell me how you are liking your Sony UX-50?

Fatreg, time for me to do a search, but what is " Windows Vista "
