I have noticed this problem in the last month or two. SMS's don't arrive on the handset unless it gets rebooted. Going in and out of flight mode isn't enough (I know that is sufficient to give the network a kick). nor is placing a call or sending an SMS.

I am on vodafone UK and the firmware is quite old, probably 2 years now. I've got about 900 SMS's on the phone now so I wonder if there's a bug to do with indexing or storing them?

If someones had this before and solved it, please let me know.

I'd rather not!

So - what's the limit on storage? Is there a known bug?

i don't think that there is a storage limit from what i have heard, just as many that will fit in the memory you have. try backing up everything on your phone, and then doing master reset / update (or reflash) the phone.

as always correct me if i am wrong,

900sms that is a lot. I would delete most of them.

Ive had a similar problem on my p900 when i had 2000+ sms on my phone. Unfortunately it took up all but 2megs on my internal memory and some messages took up to 2 days to arrive! It might just be vodafone being stupid but i upgraded my firmware and the problem hasnt happened since. I suggest upgrading your firmware and keeping atleast 1.5megs free on internal memory at all times. I now have about 1000 messages on my phone now and its working fine. (p.s. im on o2 though) This message was posted from a P900

Well actually it isn't. An SMS is 160 bytes maximum, and 1000 of them is only 160kB. Maybe the P910 has a little overhead because my inbox is billed as 195kB after tidying up a few useless messages.

Also I have 21MB frees space available on internal storage so there seems to be more than enough space right now.

I'll watch for any further posts supporting the upgrade path....

Do SE publish bugs fixed in each release, etc?

My friend got this problem last week, finally I check up his inbox and see 7xx's sms
10's mms
7xx's email
totally use 40mb
Finally, I remove about 300's email, it resume normal, I am not sure does any limitation of how much sms can keep or something, but I believe u del some sms..email, your p910 will resume normal.

I had the same problem with my P910i right now!!!

Fixed it by making a backup folder and moved my 1000+ sms to that folder. Now everything is working ok again.

Software version: R4A10 ... i think
