Was just wondering if FAR can sort out this problem though no one seems to think its a problem.

I want to set the compression for photos taken using MXE-60 to the same as those taken with normal fine mode?

Normally pictures i take using MXE-60 are around 1/3 of the filesize of t hat taken without and there is a very noticeable quality difference.

I've never used FAR before but if anyone knows if this can be done a short step by step would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Also add the option to have the flash turned on always when plugged in rather than when t thinks the light levels are low enough.

it's actually the phone, not the MXE, that decides how the pictures are compressed; some people tinker with FAR to lower the compression (read: more detail; bigger file size)

i cant think of any relationship between the flash and file sizes, except that the flash only kicks in in the dark, ergo, there's less detail. which doesnt really support your first post, as the flash's purpose is to expose more detail by providing more light

@axilom,

I have an MXE-60 for my W800i as well and I noticed that the pictures taken with MXE-60 (regardless whether the flash activated or not on the scene) have higher JPG compression, hence much lower file size (= less detail).

something else must be at work here. could it be that attaching the mxe triggers the phone to use higher compression? how about attaching the mxe in a well-lit environment (and the flash doesnt engage), does it still give you higher JPG compression rates?

i cant do the testing myself now, I just soaked my flash in the laundry when i left it in my pants' front pockets. dangit.

Yes. Whether the MXE-60 activates the flash or not, as long as it's connected to the phone when you take pictures, the pictures will have far less file size.

Yeah thats right. The phone must have it set that when the MXE-60 is connected use a higher compression - hence the smaller file sizes and rubbish quality when zooming in on them.

you can change the mxe compression so that there is less compression -

Anyone else wanting to lower the ISO sensitivity from 200 to 100 when MXE-60 is used? Yes, I know what it means, lowering the output in a way...
