I'm new to these pages but have now had my M600 for almost 2 weeks. Have experienced most of the problems mentioned on these pages but things seem to be settling down now. However, I found this morning that I cannot do a backup using Backup Manager. About 40% through the backup, when the progress states that it is Retrieving Data for 3rd Party Applications, progress stops and the message "Backup Not Complete - Cancelled by Device" pops up. When I click on the Report button, the Report states "Backup Status: Fail, Remarks: 3rd Party Applications: 3rd party applications - Cancelled by device". A whole string of letters and numbers follows followed by "Device Failed". I have tried not backing up 3rd party applications but this just makes progress stop when retrieving data for Settings and the Report stating again that the Device had failed and that it was Cancelled by device. I had last done a backup on the 23rd with no problems. I have not added any 3rd party applications. My phone has the latest firmware but I have not been able to find updates for PC Suite for Smartphones so it is the original version 1.0.3. Any suggestions?

I have had the same problem. The only way to resolve was to perform a master reset, with all the pain that this means.
The problem was solved for two or three back ups only, and now we're back to square one...
Any advice on the reason for this and how to prevent it??
Thanks

@gseh88
could you try to back-up and this time unselect the option to back-up Applications and see what happens. It looks like there may be an app (e.g. Media Player) that has corrupt data or perhaps has a file open even after a reboot/restart. The other option worth trying is to backup without the M2 card.

I've tried both options... Tried just savingf settings, which is the most important setting for me... No change.

The only pure third party applications are the games. So try to uninstall and try the back-up again.

Sorry I've been away for so long but when I didn't get any response initially I gave up looking for replies!! Anyway, my problem seems to have resolved itself after upgrading to the latest firmware. Of course that meant I had to re-setup the phone from scratch since I didn't have a backup but at least it all seems to work now.

Well I'm back on this post. My backups worked for a month and then I went away for a month and now I can't backup anymore. I always get the device cancelled backup message. If I try not backing up the catergory which seems to cause the problem (usually 3rd Party Applications, of which I have non!) then it just stops somewhere else. Has anyone found a way of getting round this problem? I know I could reflash again but assume this means I have to set up the phone again with my White theme, soft/hard buttons, etc. I have full backups from last month but will this get all these settings back onto my phone? I can always get up to date PIM info from my Outlook. Will a Master Reset on the phone help and if so, will I have the same setup problems as reflashing? Can anyone help?

I've been trying to isolate the problem area and have just discovered that if I uncheck the Unified Box backup, the backup works perfectly. What is in the Unifed Box??? Do I need to back it up?

@gseh88:
I've had almost exactly the same experience as you, work great after the firmware upgrade - for a while. Now I only can do a partial backup, excluding BOTH Settings and the "unified inbox" (or whatever it might be called in English).
I suspect that I somehow after the firmware upgrade created a "non-backupable setting". Would have preferred that the backup software skipped that "strange" setting and continued backing up, rather than aborting the entire backup...

Hi Sven,
I suppose I should be thankful that I can at least backup my Settings but can you or anyone else tell me exactly what settings are backed up? Does it include things like themes, ringtones and volumes, soft and hard button settings, etc? Ideally, I'd like the phone to return to exactly the same set up as it was immediately before a reflash or master reset (assuming this brings everything back to default settings) but am I expecting too much? I sure hope SE fixes this pretty basic flaw in their phone/software. What gets me is that because I had so many problems with the M600 initially (and I was one of the first users of the phone), I did not install a single third party application on the phone and yet I still suffer from all these problems. You'd better wake up soon SE or you'll be losing another long time customer.
