@Stayback: My work uses VSTS-2005, it comes with the VS-2005 IDE, SQL Server Dev Edition 2005 (Professional ships with SQL Express!), MSDN Sept 2005, VS Remote Tools (remote debugger and some asp.net tools etc.) , DotFusicator, SPY++ and some other standard stuff like SPY++ , MFC Trace, ATL Trace etc.

IMO VSTS-2005, is probabaly the most comprehensive IDE around. We used to use #develop professional at my work, recently we have moved over to VSTS-2005, and believe me, process specific dev-time is quite low now.

1) What is the difference in MSDN 2006?? I think in Visual studio team suite it is not included.

2) What abt SQL Server 2005?

To compare all the verions of VS2005 See this webpage: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/products/compare/default.aspx

If you see carefully it will say that VSTS-2005 comes bundeled with SQL Server 2005 Dev edition.

For personal use I dont suggest you use VSTS, rather go for VS-SE or VS-PE. VSTS will cost you well over $1000 per licence for an 8 Licence version. My company purchased 36 licences for $28,000 !!! Even if you buy a single licence copy of VS-PE 2005, it will cost you around $499 (for MSDN Subscribers).

See this page: http://www.microsoft.com/pres[....]/2005/mar05/03-21VS2005PR.mspx , VSTS licenses start at $3,191 Per licence.

@fatreg: !! On a more serious note, using VSTS without a licence could seriosly harm your business. Also, you dont get some of the more important features like MSDN subscriptions etc. Considering the revenue genrated, $3000 per licence is quite worth it.

@stayback: MSDN Subscriptions have to be purchased. Each time you purchase a licence to a VS product, you get access to all the MSDN contect which has been written till the production date. If you want to subscribe to the latest MSDN content subscription has to be purchased. (Typical M$ )

I highly reccomend MSDN Subscriptions, in the premium subscriptions, you get access to 10 Licences of all Microsoft Products (Even Beta and Future 'To-Be-Released' Products) for testing, development and compatability testing. You also get unlimited help from microsoft, and the MSDN concierge service.

See this page for pricing: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/howtobuy/Default.aspx

And this page for Features: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/products/subscriptions/chart/

A premium subscription along with a Single License of VS-TS is costing you $10,939.00 and subsiquently $3,499.00 per year.
