yes and no, depends on how well you take care of your phone.

If you keep it in a proper antistatic phonebag when not used, it will be fine for years, but if you keep the phone in your pocket, or use it daily in very dusty environments you will more likely get problems with the joystick.

Joystick problems are usually caused by dust, dirt etc. creeping in

If you get problems with your joystick and you dont wait untill its totally nonfunctional, it can be cleaned and be good as new.

And if you don't enjoy the stigma attached to a designer antistatic phonebag, just use your phone normally, and take take advantage of your warranty.

I just had my joystick replaced with an extended warrantee - wonderful!

Yes, it would be sorted under warranty if needed.

I service approx 1200 company S//E phones with joysticks, previosly T610/T630, then K700 and now K750, and have during the last 3-4 years only needed to replace 5 joysticks of those. The rest could be cured by cleaning, but even those were very low numbers.

You will see several here reporting problems, but remember you propably wont here from the thousands of normal users who dont experience any problems.

point being dont loose any sleep worrying about the joystick if its not allready faulty.

Well said as xan K pointed out. I'd just take a few seconds daily using a Q-tip and clean the dust around the joystick.

Otherwise if you want to get rid of dust that may have accumulated inside the phone (ie. under the screen), open the front faceplate once every while to clean it using tape.
