i have had my k800 for near on 24 hours now, i am very pleased with the camera quality when taking photographs BUT like stated in the k800 thread by others, i am left a little upset with the video capture quality, if any thing the capture and playback seems worse than my k750i??
when capturing video and on playback the images are very jagged around the edges???
my question is, will there be a software upgrade for video capture on this phone in the fore see able future, or can such a thing not be done???

Don't expect too much of an improvement in video quality with firmware updates, but you can be sure to see firmware updates in time that will slowly but surely rise the video recording quality as much as possible. Just like Sony Ericsson did with the K750, yeah its not great but there's great improvement in both the camera and video recording if compared with the original firmware.

cheers guys
personaly i wasn't expecting se to give a software upgrade to rival there handycams LOL but some sort of software to take advantage of the 3.2mp would be nice
still a little concerned with the jagged edges in video capture mode, i may have to pop down to cpw and compare with another k800

Very disapointed with K800's video capabilities. I expected something like W900's at least.

Maybe the upcoming mobile HandyCAM series by SE will satisfy us. Therefore, I rely more on my T30 as imaging device and the real Video Camcorder HandyCAM as video capture. My K750 or K800 is just a phone that will never be a real camera nor video recorder..

To upload videos online you can try
http://www.hidebehind.com , It's a free multimedia hosting service with a 10 MB size limit.

It has been discussed many times in the K790/K800 thread so it shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone. Firmware upgrade might help a bit to improve the quality of the individual frames but is very unlikely to improve it to like QVGA at 30fps.

There was a hack for the k750i which you changed the camera driver and there was a driver that had the video settings i remember someone managed 10fps @100kbps at 320x240 video reso that was the k750 so the k800 (which i have) does support higher recording bitrates and framerate est its just sony ericsson being retards, if the phone can decode 320x240 video at 450kbps then it can surely encode that or more :S if someone remembers this can they help me! lol
