I have experienced that sometimes, when in the camera mode, pressing the photo button on the right side of the phone to take a picture, takes me back to where I was when I activated the camera. Is this a known problem?

When the picture size exceeds a certain limit, (appx 500 KB for non-tweaked drivers), the camera crashes, and you return to where you were.
The limit is appx 700 KB for tweaked camera drivers.
EDIT: OOPS - didn't notice you got a W810 - so no tweaked drivers!

It happens sometimes with my W800. And what does the pic size depend on if we use the same resolution?

The pic size (in KB) depends on the amount of detail (wanted as well as unwanted) in a picture.
The wanted detail constitutes parts of the scene, and if it's a particularly detailed scene (like a dense foliage with lots of leafs and so on), the file size gets increased.
Also, unwanted detail - like CMOS noise and color noise add to the filesize noticably.
